Representing Christian Music Ministry
in the New Millennium
Troy Richardson
They say the best things in life are free. Country Gospel recording artist Troy Richardson has certainly been blessed with the love of family and friends, the love and peace of God, and so much more. These can not be bought with money but are priceless treasures.
It has also been said that good things never change. For those who love and serve the Lord, it could be said that the best things in life just keep getting better!
Troy grew up with a great love of music that was inspired by nights of listening to the Grand ‘Ole Opry as the great artists of his day sang and played their way into thousands of homes. Something sparked inside him as he sat with his family during those concerts, and a passion for music was born.
In his early teens Troy received his very first guitar, which he quickly mastered. He began singing with friends in several bands that lasted throughout his teen years. As one might imagine, the music he played was influenced by Country mixed with Southern Rock.
As time passed and Troy grew into a more mature young man, he found something was missing – both in his music and in his life. It was during a church revival that he finally realized what was missing - a relationship with Jesus Christ. With child-like faith, he stepped into the aisle, putting one foot in front of the other, and knelt at an old-fashioned altar. “When I got up from the altar that night, I knew that I knew I was SAVED!” he shares. It was during this same six-week revival that his family came to know the Lord. He recalls, “We had never been to church together as a family before, but God got a hold of all of us during that revival.”
Troy has learned to lean on his faith in all areas of his life and has declared that he has always found God to be faithful. Unsure of where his service would take him or what the outcome might be, he was drafted into the U.S. Army as a young man. After completion of all his training, he was assigned to the 2nd Calvary Division and stationed in Bayreuth, Germany during the Vietnam war era. His unit was responsible for guard patrol of the Czech border. When his tour of duty was complete he returned to Kentucky. “I was glad to be home!” he says.
Troy has, in fact, worn many hats during his lifetime: soldier, business owner, pastor, evangelist, and singer. But the most important one he wears most proudly is ‘Child of God.’ “Nothing like being a Christian!” he exclaims!
He takes his service to the Lord seriously and humbly. Many may not know that he is an ordained Bishop in the Church of God where he pastored for ten years and evangelized for fifteen years. His pastoral ministry in a small Kentucky town had a great impact in the community and God richly blessed with a harvest of souls.
Troy has the energy that matches that of some of today’s young artists. And with God’s anointing, he produces the most inspiring performances. As he takes the stage with guitar in hand, you just sense that something good is about to happen and, before long, the audience rises to their feet with great enthusiasm.
Troy’s ministry keeps growing and expanding in areas only God could open for this talented and anointed man of God. Awards and accolades have never been the driving force behind his ministry, but the favor of God is evident. He was recently nominated for ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ and ‘Entertainer of the Year’ for the Josie awards. The Josie awards, which was established in 2015, is the largest independent artist awards organization globally encompassing all music genres. The basis for the Josie awards is comprised of an artist’s talent, skill, material, professionalism and more. Nominations are screened through a lengthy process by a team of industry leaders. Thousands from around the world attend the Josie awards to watch with great expectation as the winners are announced. Last year, Troy was the recipient of Josie Award’s 2018 ‘Entertainer of the Year.’
Troy and His wife, Linda, both have a great heart for people and the work of the Lord, “One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey the Lord has placed us on, is the ability to interact with so many people. To be able to be a part of their lives during sad times, happy times, weddings of loved ones, passing of loved ones, and of course the salvation of many. It has truly been a remarkable journey for the past thirty years and we look forward to what God has in store as we continue to walk in this way.”
Be sure not to miss an opportunity to enjoy the ministry of Troy Richardson and the excitement and energy he brings to any concert or venue. One man and his guitar mixed with the anointing of God will stir the environment and the impossible suddenly becomes possible in the presence of the Lord.
